A Deeper Look Into Infertility

Male Factors

Low Sperm Count
Very Poor Motility of Sperm
High Percentage of Adnormal or Rounded Headed Sperm
No Sperm in Semen with Mature Sperms Present in Testes

1. Azoospermia :-

Azoospermia is a major cause of male infertility, when a man’s ejaculate (semen) has no measurable sperm. As a matter of fact, in 40% of infertile couples male has a fertility problem.
Obstructive Azoospermia: In this case, there is normal sperm production, but the reproductive tract for both testicles is blocked. This means no measurable sperm can get into the semen.
Non-obstructive Azoospermia: This type is poor sperm production. Men do not produce enough sperm for a detectable amount to show up in their semen. Non-obstructive azoospermia remains challenging to treat, however we can help restore sperm to the semen in some cases.

2. Retrograde Ejaculation :-

Retrograde ejaculation occurs when semen enters the bladder instead of emerging through the penis during orgasm. Causes of retrograde ejaculation can include diabetes, medication, injury or past surgeries. It’s also a main cause of male infertility.

3. Immunologic infertility :-

Sometimes a man’s body makes antibodies that attack his own sperms. Antibodies are most often made because of injury, surgery or infection. They not only keep sperms from working normally but also makes it difficult for sperm to swim into the fallopian tube and enters an egg.

4. Varicoceles :-

Varicoceles are when veins in the scrotum become enlarged, this condition is oftenreported at puberty. These veins are like varicose veins (twisted, swollen veins, found in the leg). They can grow larger and you may notice them more over the time. Varicoceles are more common on the left side of the scrotum. This is because the male anatomy is not the same on both sides. Varicoceles may exist on both sides at the same time, but this is rare. About 10 to 15 boys out of 100 have a varicocele but it is hard to say how many out of these will have infertility and hence a visit at right time to doctor is the solution for same.

Female Factors

A) PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) :-

Polycystic  ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common health problem caused by an imbalance of reproductive  hormones and makes it difficult for a female to concieve. 5 – 10% of women between the age group of 15 – 44 have PCOS. Most women find out they have PCOS late 20’s, when they have problems getting pregnant. this is a major Female Factor of Female Infertility.
Consult our experts if you observe these signs-

  • Irregular menstrual cycle
  • Facial hairs
  • Acne on the face, chest and upper back
  • Thinning hair or hair loss on the scalp
  • Weight gain or difficulty losing weight
  • Darkening of skin, particularly along neck creases

B) ENDOMETRIOSIS :-

  • Long-term lower-back and pelvic pain
  • Periods lasting longer than 7 days
  • Heavy menstrual bleeding
  • Painful intercourse

C) TUBAL FACTOR INFRTILITY :-

Tubal factor infertility occurs when a blockage in the fallopian tubes will not allow the egg and sperm to meet. Tubal factor infertility accounts for about 25-30% of all cases of infertility.

D) DIMINISHED OVARIAN RESERVE :-

Women are born with around 2,000,000 eggs, which is all the eggs they’llever have. Eggs are continuously lost with advancing age and hence by puberty most women have around 400,000 eggs left. By a woman’s late 30s this number further declines to around 27,000. In order to plan a family one must regularly undergo gynecological check up to keep a track of ovarian reserve left . Diminished ovarian reserve is the most common biological factor governing infertility in females.

E) SECONDARY INFERTILITY :-

Secondary infertility is when a couple has had at least one child, is  trying to get pregnant  again, but  doesn’t conceive  after at least one year of trying. We help you find the cause of this mind boggling situation and follow an individual approach for completing your family.

F) LATE MARRIAGE :-

In order to become financially stable and successful, people usually tend to marry in late 20’s. Moreover they wait for 3-4 years in order to establish a compatible relationship. Unfortunately the biological clock doesn’t function this way. Late marriage becomes a contributing factor in pregnancy failure as both men and women develop a degree of infertility to some extent. However the incidences of infertility may vary on individual basis.
